Description
The word "barrister" comes from the English word "bar", it is the barrier that separates the judge from the accused. This is the highest degree of solicitor in Great Britain. Since the 15th century, prisoners could appoint "a cultured and eloquent friend" to protect their interests. Lawyers had access to the "judicial bar", so they could be heard by the court in the interests of their client. The lawyer's speech in court is precise and sharp like a blade. In England it is said of gin that it is “cold as steel” - due to the strong cold aftertaste.
