GIN FORDS CL.70

Working in the spirits world for over 20 years, founder Simon Ford realized that the ultimate gin cocktail didn't exist. He set out to change that with the leaders of the craft cocktail movement, a small group of professional bartenders, distillers and drinkers. After several versions of a recipe, he was in attempt no. 83 who cracked the code for Fords Gin. Today, the same blend of nine botanicals is billed as The Cocktail Gin. The nine botanists found in Fords Gin are from Joseph Flach & Sons Ltd. They have been importing medicinal and culinary botanicals from around the world for London's gin houses and tea companies since 1882, a time when tea houses thrived and the gin palaces. These botanicals from around the world give Fords Gin a bold, balanced flavor that allows for versatility in classic gin cocktails. It's the perfect base for any gin-inspired drink.

Description

The nine botanicals that make up Fords Gin are steeped in pot stills for 15 hours to soften them and bring out more flavor before distillation. Botanists release most of their oils during this process, giving Fords Gin weight and viscosity, one of its defining characteristics. Ford gin is distilled for five hours in copper pot stills made by legendary still manufacturer John Dore for Thames Distillery. Appropriately named Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, these 500 liter pot stills produce a 200 liter batch of Fords Gin per run. Following the distillation process, Fords gin is shipped in bulk to Newbridge, Scotland, where the gin is blended with pure spring water, giving it its final layer of quality before bottling at 45% ABV.
