GIN ELEPHANT NAVY STRENGHT CL.50

Elephant Strength is Elephant Gin's idea of a "Navy Strength", based on the award-winning Elephant London Dry Gin. With its 57% alcohol content it is stronger and more intense than the original, yet preserving its soft and balanced character on the palate. Twice as many botanicals are used to make it, with a particular focus on the hole, the sweet orange peel and the mountain pine needles with their herbaceous note.

Description

As is always the case with Elephant Gin, no detail is overlooked and so also the bottles of this new release bear the name of the "Magnificent Seven": the strongest and most impressive elephants found in Kruger National Park, South Africa, and the whose fangs weigh more than 50 kg each. Kambaku, Joao Dzombo, Mafunyane, Ndlulamithi, Shawu, Shingwedzi are sadly gone but Elephant Gin wants these legends to live on in the Elephant Strength label.

The origins of Navy Strength gins take us back to the 18th century when gin was extremely popular across the UK; so popular that the Royal Navy stipulated that a minimum amount of gin should be carried aboard each ship. Not trusting the greedy merchants, the officers of the English navy began to verify its quality by wetting the gunpowder with the distillate. If this burned it meant that the gin had not been diluted with too much water and the alcohol content reflected at least 57%.

Elephant Gin contributes 15% of its earnings to the activities of the three foundations Big Life Foundation, Space For Elephants and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust which are responsible for safeguarding the African elephant to protect it from extinction.
